Why were the Baby Boomers allowed to impose their will on everyone else without any consideration for everyone?

My Boomer Tips

everyone else?

They have singlehandedly bankrupted social security, medicare - but conveniently, it will last JUST long enough for them to use up. THEY get the full benefit of it, but as soon as they finally die off, the system will be destroyed and the rest of us will have to work until we're 90 years old and our taxes will be increased. If we complain about higher taxes, we're told to stop whining and be patriotic. They have also destroyed the healthcare industry in general and will force nationalized healthcare on everyone in the country. THEY didn't have to suffer through such crap while they were growing up and through their working life, but now they want to impose is on the younger people.
The baby boomers also opened up the flood gates for illegal and legal immigration from the Third World, which is contributing massively to crime and the further bankruptcy of hospitals and social services.
The baby boomers are mostly responsible for the credit crisis, which was caused by their liberal do-gooder laws forcing banks to lend money to poor people and minorities in the name of fairness. Fortunately, this is the only problem that they are suffering the worst from. It's ravaging their stock and fund holdings and destroying their pensions and 401ks and i am relishing every minute of it :)
Will the subsequent generations who take over industry and politics think about the future , or will they also hog every thing for themselves?
My main question is this.

Why did the Baby Boomers squander everything for themselves, but now want to take it all away now that they are in power but ready for the grave soon.
They lived like HOGS, but now they want to take away rights, privileges, and richness that they enjoyed their whole lives.
The younger people are the ones who will pay for their piggishness, yet these old farts have the nerve to be preachy and condescending towards us if we want to have what they've always had. They didn't have to suffer through illegal aliens, universal healthcare, global warming hoaxes, etc. But they expect everyone else to play by these onerous and destructive rules.

what can you say… they’re just very self-centered people. total hypocrites when it come to money/materialism.

my mother is a baby-boomer/ex-hippie and damn near communist politically. she’s also very wasteful and cannot get enough of the money!

    Where is the question?

  3. Revolution Ranger

    What are you talking about?

  4. Mittmouhd R

You may want to change your terminology. The ones responsible are the hippies from the 60s

  5. ghost

LBJ opened the flood gates actually. He was born in 1908, and he is responsible for most of it.

I do not know but thanx for the points

Where were you while all of this was happening? Hmmmmm…were you opposing them? Were you involved in your government? What WILL you do to prevent anything you don’t like from happening again? Talk on Yahoo and wish it away?lol

So you’re blaming baby boomers for being born?

You don’t have even the least bit of a logical argument here.

Guess what? The economy 50 or so years ago caused a baby boom, largely having to do with the war.

Nothing you have said in any way makes sense, especially in a way that could place blame on baby boomers.

    GET OVER IT.

  9. student_of_life

    Stop whining and be patriotic.

  10. Fonz

it’s hooray for us and screw you. I’m just glad that you did not blame the republicans and bush.everyone else does.

The real baby boomers had to draw water from a well every morning, feed the cows, milk them, then collect the eggs in all before breakfast. Then they had to walk 5 miles to school and 5 miles home again afterwards. And thats the lucky ones!!!
They survived world war 2, Vietnam, Korea, the Cuban crisis and the cold war with Russia. What have you struggled through? a few english exams and a few hundred hard strolls to burger king or MacDees?
    Sheeiiiittt.

Well there is a reason that the baby boomers are know as the "me" generation. They were the hippies. This is a group of people that only know how to rebel. They don’t care what they are rebelling against, they just want to rebel. The liberal leadership of the modern day democratic party are hippies that never grew up. These people are selfish and narcissistic. They have passed these "values" on to their children, who have taken this need to rebel to its next logical progression. The children of the hippies have grown up having everything given to them. They have never had to work for or earn anything, therefore in their minds they are entitled. Unfortunately these children are now having children. The baby boomers have created a cycle of ME, ME, ME, and it seems that this cycle will never end.

Because all the folks born to hippies and thier kids spent all their time making up reasons hate the US and Bush that everyone got distracted.

In my opinion, McCain made a fatal mistake by talking about reforming Social Security. Also, the left did a great job of smearing McCain’s health care proposal by claiming he would rob Medicare to do it. I think this is why he lost Florida.

Social Security and Medicare must be reformed, the fraud must come out of Medicare and it isn’t to take needed help from old people. It is to preserve the system for future generations, many of us who lack the pensions the older generations got from their companies.

But it cannot be a part of the platform or speech. It just needs to get into Congress as a bill. The AARP is the strongest lobby in the US, and a candidate is committing suicide to say anything about taking them on.

Edit: Obama wants to take even our inheritances from us when the older generations die–what does he care, his relatives are all dead. The young are crazy for electing him.

If all you wanted to do was rant about the old people, this has been done for a long time–it’s called ageism and it’s stupid. You will get old some day.

If you want to blame them for something, blame them for abortion and radical feminism, because their destruction of the traditional family is why there aren’t enough workers to support further generations.

    You need to get laid.

Kinda bitter? Yeah, me too. I was hoping they’d have all retired by now so I could get one of their higher paying jobs.

  17. John H

they’ll probably do the same, n we’ll look back n think the baby boomers had the right idea, n the generation after this will ask the same questions as u did for different issues n think our generation had the right idea

it’s the nature of things, obviously there will be a small minority within each generation who will look out for the benefit of the younger ones but its a small minority, maybe 1 in 5

  18. Chev M

one thing the baby boomers didnt wreck healthcare it was long ago insurance companys wrecked it you need to research before you talk about it the credit crisis was brought on by government not regu.and leaving wall st. run wildand no bank was forced to lend money to poor people again regulation you need to open your eyes

  19. R_Crumb_Rocks

Are you so silly stupid that you cannot figure out what is happening?

Baby boomers represent a large demographic segment of society all aging together. For social security, the system relies on a mathematical model that assumes there will always be many more people working than retired. But, if baby boomers are the majority of society and they all retire at about the same time, then we will have more people retired than working. The model is upside down. Get it? More will be paid out in benefits than are received from younger workers.

You want to blame baby boomers for all the problems we have? illegal immigration, crime, economic crisis,….hahahahahahahahahahah.

Why don’t you blame it all on sun spots. Makes about as much sense.

  20. shirleykins

Fascinating. I had no idea you babes had any thoughts beyond which tattoo shall I get, will the piercing hurt, and can I use food stamps for my next high. (I’m talking about all those other people. Not you!)

You may want to actually do some research into this, the baby boomers have little to do with bankrupting a system that was not set up to handle the current influx of the population. When SS was set up, it was to handle individuals for the rest of theit natural life span which at the time was only about 10 years after retirement, it also assumed there would be enough young people joining the work force to cover the income required to maintain this.
The baby boomers did not open the "flood gate" for illegal immigrantion but rather the business owners who wanted to make additional profits of individuals while paying them below a living wage under the table.
The current credit crisis about brought on by poorly thought out policy changes put into place by the Carter administration, and continued through the Clinton administration, which he admitted to on national TV. It is those who are not part of the "baby boomers" who will not accept the fact that the SS system needs to be changed in order to insure funds are available in the future, it is up to the current generation of home buyers to insure they do not overextend their credit and purchasing homes priced beyond their means and allowing loans for individuals who cannot prove they are able to pay it back. The stocks have their balancing act every so many years, this is nothing new. If you are young and have a 401K, you will see this about every 8-10 years. everything you mention, has happened before and will happen again. Maybe you should encouarge the privatization of SS like President Bush wanted to insure there is funding for future generations rather than sitting on your behind expecting others to take care of you.
No one generation is responsible for another generation, you are responsible for creating plans that continue to work or reform old plans to meet the changing needs of the populations. And to figure out how to do this without further taxation which will bankrupt the nation.
BTW for the individual who stated the baby boomer were the "me" generation, you also may want to take a hard look around, as the baby boomers are those who do more charity work, contribute to charities, and have often worked for decades to provide for their families. Do not assume the leftist hippies are all that was produced during the baby boomer years. The current generations are more "me" focused than ever before in history as the person asking this proves.
