As the baby boomers retire in the early 2020s, the number of people collecting Social Security benefits will begin rising and the number of workers contributing payroll taxes will become smaller. To ensure that payroll taxes coming in are sufficient to fund benefits going out, the government could:
I. Increase payroll taxes
II. Reduce Social Security benefits
III. Increase the retirement age
IV. Divert payroll taxes from current workers into private retirement accounts
A. I, II, III, and IV
B. I, II, and III only
C. II and III only
D. III and IV only

selfish? They've been this way since the 60's...it's all about them, and what they want, almost everything they've laid their hands to they have destroyed. They whine and cry to get what they want, never concerned about how it will affect others...

The report said that the Social Security annual surplus would be eliminated entirely in 2016, reflecting increased demands from the wave of 78 million baby boomers retiring.

Will Baby Boomers give up their Social Security to save the Country?
Certainly by now most Baby Boomers have at least a cool million in the savings account and if you do not, then by Conservative reasoning, it must be because you are lazy or you let a liberal handle your finances for you...if that is the case you deserve to be dirt poor in retirement and the sooner you die the better off the country will be because you won't be draining the economy due to health issues you cannot pay for or Medicare will cover.
Several Conservative politicians are proposing the elimination of Social Security but they expect the younger generation to continue to pay in so that Baby Boomers do not go without...of course the younger generation will not be so privileged as to reap what they have sown.
If you really love your country you will make this sacrifice right? You won't expect the younger generation to spread their wealth without a guaranteed return on their investment will you?
Yes or no...and if not, why not?

Do you think the 80 million baby boomers will lead to a "baby bust"? Do you think Social Security will be there for you?
There will be fewer workers paying into the Social Security system to support each retiree. Instead of three workers per retiree, there'll be just two. Pundits say "in 2017 the payroll taxes flowing into the Social Security system won't be enough to cover promised benefits. But the system will remain solvent because the Social Security Trust Fund will be able to cover the shortfall until 2041. Then, if nothing is done to shore up the system, payroll taxes will cover just 75 percent of promised benefits."

This is paraphrased from a conversation I had the other day about Federal retirement programs, mainly social security and medicare . . .
Even if these programs are brought back into reasonable financial metrics, I do not believe they will continue to exist because the baby boomers failed to enter into the sacred contract of sacrifice for country that their parents entered . . .
It's very easy to ask a group of people to financially sacrifice for a generation that slugged it out through the Great Depression only to enter into the mother of all wars . . . the dedication that these individuals showed to their country was of heroic proportions . . . conversely, I can find no such sacrifice from their offspring . . . so it can only be assumed that they have broken the unspoken contract that legitimized these programs to begin with . . .
Your thoughts . . . have the boomers honored their contract?
Jelly Bean . . . you are the first generation of Americans to ever leave their children less financially sound and less "safe" . . . do you not feel any responsibility for your political failure?
Since the question is about ethical responsibility . . . I'm sure you have know idea what I'm talking about . . . your a perfect example of the "failure" I'm talking about . . . does it bother you at all that as soon as 2025 100% of the Federal budget will go to such programs . . .
You should be ashamed of yourself . . . And do you really think people like me are willing to allow 100% of the Federal budget to go to people like you . . . 2025 not so far off . . . should I pay for your retirement at the expense of my own?
And by the way . . . I'm an accountant . . . my husband has a Ph.D. . . . so if you want to have an educational throw down . . . I'd be glad to do so

They have singlehandedly bankrupted social security, medicare - but conveniently, it will last JUST long enough for them to use up. THEY get the full benefit of it, but as soon as they finally die off, the system will be destroyed and the rest of us will have to work until we're 90 years old and our taxes will be increased. If we complain about higher taxes, we're told to stop whining and be patriotic. They have also destroyed the healthcare industry in general and will force nationalized healthcare on everyone in the country. THEY didn't have to suffer through such crap while they were growing up and through their working life, but now they want to impose is on the younger people.
The baby boomers also opened up the flood gates for illegal and legal immigration from the Third World, which is contributing massively to crime and the further bankruptcy of hospitals and social services.
The baby boomers are mostly responsible for the credit crisis, which was caused by their liberal do-gooder laws forcing banks to lend money to poor people and minorities in the name of fairness. Fortunately, this is the only problem that they are suffering the worst from. It's ravaging their stock and fund holdings and destroying their pensions and 401ks and i am relishing every minute of it 
Will the subsequent generations who take over industry and politics think about the future , or will they also hog every thing for themselves?
My main question is this.
Why did the Baby Boomers squander everything for themselves, but now want to take it all away now that they are in power but ready for the grave soon.
They lived like HOGS, but now they want to take away rights, privileges, and richness that they enjoyed their whole lives.
The younger people are the ones who will pay for their piggishness, yet these old farts have the nerve to be preachy and condescending towards us if we want to have what they've always had. They didn't have to suffer through illegal aliens, universal healthcare, global warming hoaxes, etc. But they expect everyone else to play by these onerous and destructive rules.

How will America survive when the baby boomers leave? do americans have to produce more kids rapidly, you know like 6 per family? or maybe quit aborting 50 million children since 1970 (potential to fill up 2/3 of that gap). do we have to import more brains from india and china? would that be convient especially now that china is exporting spies to the US with ease, and the EU is also importing its own brains. Canada and australia are doing like the EU too.
oh an American highschoolers are now reading less and watching more MTV and spending more weekends at the mall.
also when it comes to maths, we cant even see china, and also Nigeria and poland just went past us.
The great USA is now 29th in science.
oh and em social security is running dry, so is healthcare.
however, i dont think socialized healthcare would be helpful to the economy.
