My Boomer Tips

I have a friend. He is just like a little brother to me. His dad passed away a few years ago and for the last two years I have been trying my very best to take care of him. I devote a lot of my energy, time and money to this little kid. He is now 18 years old. I'm 26. There are so many things that we did together, we went on many trips together, we went to a lot of museums, we went snowboarding, car racing, and alot of things. He never paid for any of it. For his 18th birthday, I got an iphone for him. He said he would pay every month for the phone bill. It's been 9 months since I got him the phone, he only paid once. He has two jobs now working at the mall. But he hardly pays for anything. He recently got a car. His grandmother, aunts and uncles gave him some money and he asked for 00 and I gave it to him. He said he would pay me back, but he never did. Not long after he got his car, he had to change his timing belt. He asked me to help him pay for it. It cost 0. He told me he would pay 0 but he never did. Last time he left his keys in the car and had me pay , said he would pay me back but never did. On my birthday he just drove me to work and didn't said almost nothing to me in the car. When I told him how I was feeling and how I felt like he doesn't even care about me. He would tell me that he does care. A week later he got me a card that said he loves me very very much and than got me a new ipod. But he only paid half for it becasue his sister paid for the other half. Later on I found out his sister paid for the whole thing and he never paid her the other half. We would have dinner at least once every week but he has only paid for maybe three or four times even though he has two jobs now. Last week, he asked me for because he said he ran out of money. He said he bought a lot of gifts for people. So I ended up giving him another . He never calls or text me to see how I am doing. Even though I always text him to see how he is doing. Although I introduce him to friends, co-workers and even my family as my brother, I have never heard him introduce me to his friends, his family as his brother. I added him on facebook a month ago. For some reason he wouldn't add me. When I asked him about, he would just say he is too busy or too lazy. But it only takes 5 seconds to go online and add me. He hardly ever tells me what he talks about with his co-workers and his friends. Even when I ask him about it, he would always just say, " random stuff." This has made me just feel very sad and like he is just using me. Please give me some advice and guidance. I am so confused.

Empty nest… My mother is upset..?

My Boomer Tips

I have moved out with my soon to be wife. My sister is moving out with her soon to be husband. We have lived with my folks for all of our lives. But now my mother is flipping out that there is no one ever around to her do things. My father would help but he has a very bad back and cant do to much. My mother seems upset and wont talked very long to me. I do try to make it to the house to help her and to visit. The last time I called her she was crying and said nothing is not doing to be done anymore. She stated that there was to much help and she never gets help like everyone else. I do feel bad and I wish I was there all the time to help. I am very close to my mother, like any child should be.

What or shall I handle this? I heard this is called empty nest issue.

Thanks for helping if you can!!

My Boomer Tips

In the 1960's we would not have allowed this. The last time one of our Presidents went over the line like this we went to the streets and got him removed. "Hey Hey LBJ How many kids have you killed today? " Isn't it time we did it again?

How do I get over the pain of losing my grandmother? I feel so hurt…..?

My Boomer Tips

My grandmother was like a best friend to me.(she's 60)She started smoking crack and she stopped calling me. She stopped caring about me. So I gave up. I was over her.
She called my house sober.
We drove to her house (eight hours). When we went to see her; she wasn't there. She called the next day and said she's show up at the house we were staying in. She came in for 10 seconds, began to cry and scream about how her parents abandoned her, turned around, told us she had to go "pick something up"( we knew what she meant...crack),and left. I asked her not to go.She ran out of the house and screeched out of the drive way.
I never got to say goodbye, give her the gift I bought her,or that I loved her. She never told me she loved me after she pleaded for another chance. I loved her so much! My entire childhood was based around her..and she just crushed it my heart.
I know it could be worse...but I just can't seem to let her go.(even though she let me go)
What should I do?
I mean she begged for another chance and I opened up to her again and she crushed me. I love her so much,I feel like she died and I never got to go to the funeral.
I still love her and want her back, but its knowing I'll never have her back and I NEVER got to say goodbye or "i love you" one last time.
After she left My face just hit the table and I started crying. I've been crying..for about 2 weeks now.
GUYS she's not actually DEAD.
She's alive and dying through smoking crack and hurting everyone around her.

If I know ways to help baby boomers (now seniors) in their financial crises, would you help them?

My Boomer Tips

There are 76 million baby boomers going through major financial crises and there about 176,000 of us who are qualified to help them. Because of this, retirement age has now adjusted to age 67, going 70. If we won't help resove this issue, we might end up at age 75 or more and still working because we cannot afford to retire. Your money in the bank gives you 1-2% interest on a savings account... inflation rate is now 3.9% last time I checked. Your savings is now about negative (-)1.9%. Lets not make is worse.
