We sat on the floor in depression era buildings made for 1/3 the kids-

Well, I don't mean hippies per day. I have a degree and an office job, what I'm saying is that today's young people. 15-29 have more integrity when it comes to following up on their values. Like lots of people know that Live Earth was gay and polluting. Some people who I know don't eat meat because it's a polluting industry.

Do you feel like when Baby Boomers and Gen X people retire from government in 30-40 years today's young people will stick to their guns and actually make policy changes related to environment? For example making internal combustion engines in private vehicles illegal. Or taxing meat industry heavily, and so on.
iraqisax, well, capitalist economy things the other way. Business have long recognized that there are different age market segments with different values and they require different approach; without necessarily having members of groups themselves realize where they belong . So saying that Gen X, or Gen Y don't exist or they're not real people it's just plain demagogy and ignorance.

Like engineers who build rail roads and steel factories, or scientists who who come up with new alloys and drilling methods don't work in offices. Christ, this is one of the first times I saw someone's work ethics judged based on their diet. I guess this is how Bush got voted into the office - solid meat based diet

Baby Boomers have consistently made out in every economy because of their sheer numbers and the way their decisions affect everything.

So it's no wonder Gen X'ers are bitter and unable to save for their own confortable retirement:

All the Gen X'ers that I know -- and our generation, the ones right behind them -- feel like they are walking in the trampled grasses of a buffalo herd that's just run by, and it's a reality that we've been living with our whole lives! The Boomers ruin EVERYTHING they touch, so why should retirement be any different?

So Gen X'ers figure their time will come... when THEY are in power and the Boomers have retired. Then they can pass laws to simply confiscate the Boomers money, via taxes. And the Boomers, having socialized the country, will have enabled them with that power.

Wouldn't that be sweet revenge on the self-centered "Me" generation?

It seems like all the Gen X and Millenialls are screwed for life because the Baby Boomers are selfish. It seems like all they cared about was how much money they made in the 80s and 90s.

They all bought big, ugly McMansions, and expensive cars. And now in the 2000s the economy crashed and they're in debt. And all these stimulus bills are going to make all the kids, teens, and young adults of today have no future because we will have to pay off what our parents did to us.

All the Baby Boomer bosses and CEOs are making it harder to get a job and become successful. In order to make a decent living, you have to have a masters degree now. And the Baby Boomers are raising the college costs. In 20 years, nobody will go to college or be successful.

And let's not forget about Social Security and Medicare in the next ten years...
And don't forget.. Dubya.
Fistycuffs - Many of the Millenials havent bought homes. The GenXers maybe, but is it their fault it's so hard to buy a home nowadays? 20 years from now every McMansion development will sit vacant because nobody can afford them.

My personal opinion is that the Baby Boomer generation is responsible for everything wrong in this country to date.

Social Security going bankrupt:

Wouldn't be a problem if the Baby Boomers didn't constantly seek ways to outlive their usefulness. Why do you want to live to the ripe old age of 100, Boomers? To sit in a stupor in a diaper in an assisted living center where nobody cares about you or comes to visit you?

The Entitlement Mentality:

People like to call my generation the "Me Generation". Where do you suppose we got those crazy ideas? Surely, not from our Baby Boomer parents who enjoyed the highpoint of American prosperity without working for it, who told us all our lives that we could do anything we wanted. Surely, the parents aren't responsible for the crap they've been shoving down their kid's throats for decades.

Hyper-partisanship:

Want to know why our Government can't get anything done? Its because they're all Baby Boomers who still harbor grudges over what happened in the 60's. The Liberal ones resent the tear-gas, firehouses and police dogs. The Conservatives resent Woodstock, Marijuana and Free Love. None of them can get over it and its poisoning our political discourse.

So what do you say? Did the Baby Boomers ruin this country?

Lack of Personal Responsible:

Another wonderful gift from the Baby Boomers. Thanks to them, addiction is no longer a voluntary lack of willpower, but a disease. Nobody ever chooses to be bad person, they just have bad influences in their life. This ties into what I said earlier about the crap that Baby Boomers have been shoving down the Gen X kid's throats.

Baby boomers are now becoming the new senior citizen. As a gen x'er, I get it, you baby boomers are the richest in history and probably the following generation won't be as wealthy, a la de da, etc, etc. But now you are entering your twlight years are you prepared as you should be for retirement and your mortality? Its great that you're so active, I'm just concern you're going to fall and hurt yourself.
