I have been told that as the millions of Baby Boomers age, the United States may face a lack of labor, leading us to outsource even MORE of our work to other nations--some, namely China, which don't necessarily have our best interests at heart. The immigrant population is needed to keep these jobs in the United States, for our economy and our society. Do you think so? Or have I heard incorrectly?
Baby Boomers have consistently made out in every economy because of their sheer numbers and the way their decisions affect everything.
So it's no wonder Gen X'ers are bitter and unable to save for their own confortable retirement:

All the Gen X'ers that I know -- and our generation, the ones right behind them -- feel like they are walking in the trampled grasses of a buffalo herd that's just run by, and it's a reality that we've been living with our whole lives! The Boomers ruin EVERYTHING they touch, so why should retirement be any different?
So Gen X'ers figure their time will come... when THEY are in power and the Boomers have retired. Then they can pass laws to simply confiscate the Boomers money, via taxes. And the Boomers, having socialized the country, will have enabled them with that power.
Wouldn't that be sweet revenge on the self-centered "Me" generation?
Will Baby Boomers give up their Social Security to save the Country?
Certainly by now most Baby Boomers have at least a cool million in the savings account and if you do not, then by Conservative reasoning, it must be because you are lazy or you let a liberal handle your finances for you...if that is the case you deserve to be dirt poor in retirement and the sooner you die the better off the country will be because you won't be draining the economy due to health issues you cannot pay for or Medicare will cover.
Several Conservative politicians are proposing the elimination of Social Security but they expect the younger generation to continue to pay in so that Baby Boomers do not go without...of course the younger generation will not be so privileged as to reap what they have sown.
If you really love your country you will make this sacrifice right? You won't expect the younger generation to spread their wealth without a guaranteed return on their investment will you?
Yes or no...and if not, why not?
Seriously, they've ruined everything for us young people. They've had control of the economy for decades but they got selfish and greedy and now the economy is in shambles. Now people in my age range 18-29 are having difficulty finding good jobs out there. Even college graduates with solid degrees are having trouble finding work. It must be so nice for you selfish Baby Boomers to have enjoyed your youths during high times, now us young people have to pick up after your mess.
I guess the idea of wanting a better future for one's children died when the Baby Boomers showed up. I'll be looking forward to throwing your @sses in a Nursing Home where you belong.
We have arrived at only the leading edge of the "baby boomers" moving on to nursing homes or the great unknown.
This Group began with the end of WWII and has shaped the economy ever since as they move through the phases of life. Now they are entering the finial phase.
Many of these persons own a home or reside in a single family unit. With their passing a new empty home will be on the market. Either for rent or for sale.
In my own neighborhood I have noticed not only more house for sale then ever but many that are just sitting empty.
The homes sitting empty are the ones that worry me as they invite crime and will degrade over time. We all have seen a farm house along the road rotting in place. The same processes are now working on houses in my neighborhood and I speculate that it's going on in most or at least many communities.
The true value of a home cannot be determined in dollars, but many see their home / house as an investment. I believe these people are going too disappointed in their return.
Your thoughts on the "Baby Boomers" moving on please
Additionally I have not heard any member government or any of the "experts" say anything at all in this regard.
2008 - 1947 = 61.
so no one age sixty 61 or less has moved on? Bad morgages not account for empty homes / houses. where do the people live now?
How will America survive when the baby boomers leave? do americans have to produce more kids rapidly, you know like 6 per family? or maybe quit aborting 50 million children since 1970 (potential to fill up 2/3 of that gap). do we have to import more brains from india and china? would that be convient especially now that china is exporting spies to the US with ease, and the EU is also importing its own brains. Canada and australia are doing like the EU too.
oh an American highschoolers are now reading less and watching more MTV and spending more weekends at the mall.
also when it comes to maths, we cant even see china, and also Nigeria and poland just went past us.
The great USA is now 29th in science.
oh and em social security is running dry, so is healthcare.
however, i dont think socialized healthcare would be helpful to the economy.
It seems like most if not all of our problem can be traced to the Boomers. As the one of the oldest Generation Z members i read things like Social Security failing in 2041 and the economy staying just as bad as it is. And how Baby Boomers wont be leaving their jobs when they retire so there wont be more open jobs till they're in their 70s. As my dad never stops telling us he had paper routes, snow plowing and leaf raking jobs when he was our age. But there are no more paper routes and people have snow and leaf blowers. I've looked around and no one will hire inexperienced teens compared to experienced adults. And dont even get me started on the clusterf**k of the Gulf War/War on Terror that heaped huge debt on us. So is it the Boomer's mindset that got us in this mess or what?
