The balance sheet of Social Security Trust fund

shows .5 trillion in assets.

Lets eliminate uncertainties associated with increasing longevity and assume that .5 trillion would be enough to cover baby boomers without reaching into the savings of next generations.

In that case should the assets be in the form of say gold bullion, and the Treasury was still free of debt, then I would say that contributions of baby boomers were sufficient for the retirement.

It is not the case however. So,

Who thinks given their voting record that baby boomers will sacrifice and vote to pay down their debt?

My Boomer Tips

Your voting record is reflected in our national balance sheet. You have voted for politicians that have promised to reduce taxes and not be held accountable for reducing benefits. They will say reduce spending but not explain what sacrifice the "Me" generation would have to make. You were born into an economic anomalie in which the rest of the industrial world was bombed to smithereens and we were the only country producing goods and making money. The world has caught up but not the baby boomer understanding of present day reality.
