My Boomer Tips

I have these 2 dressers each in which have the same brass pulls and I'm having problems getting the tarnish off the pulls from the second dresser (my mom polished them 5-6 years ago and their tarnished again). I think she put a clear coat of some kind on them to keep them from tarnishing but I guess it didn't work- keeps me from getting the tarnish off anyways. . . help. . . .?
I've been using Bar Keepers Friend (*Use* to think was a miracle) but now that doesn't work- even with a toothbrush. Any special brushes or something that might work a hell of alot better?
I don't want new ones- I just want these to be easier to polish~! lol is that so hard to ask?

if your knobs are 50 years old then they should be pure brass, not coated ones,, try finger nail polish remover to try and remove whatever "mom" may have put on them,,try lacquer thinner then,, use BRASSO!

brasso or duraglit are the best, and a simple trick for you..rub the brasso into the door pulls making sure you leave a deposit all over the brass, and after a few minutes, get a soft toothbrush and polish lightly , which also gets into the awkward spots..I have used this method lots of times and It has always worked for me..take care

Sometimes the brass is too far gone, especially if they’re really old. You may need to have them re-brassed. But that never looks as good as the original brass.
