If you loved having kids around, you could always take in a couple of young foster children. Baby-sitting and day-care are good ideas as well. If you volunteer at nursing homes or animal shelters etc. it looks like great experience on a job application as well, which will help you get your foot in the door somewhere. Good luck!
This is the age old SAHM dilemma.
If it is not necessary that you work then you can volunteer your time. Or you can work part-time, or take classes.
I would suggest the classes first because of the economy (if you can afford not to work).
You could always start a home daycare, at least you have experience.
My mother is facing the same challenege…Sadly, my father passed about 3 months ago, he had worked and provided for my mom and us kids for over 20 years…my mom stayed home and raised us. Now we are all over 18 and my mom had all these bills and no income or job experience. I work as a waitress and I asked my boss if he could give her a job as a buss person. Its easy and she makes ok money. I try to help her all that I can. I wish there was something I could do to help, Maybe you could ask your friends and family if they know of a job opening at their work, that they could get you into, cause knowing someone can help when it comes to finding work. Also I agree with the person who mentioned that you could open your own day care, or maybe apply at you local schools to help on the bus or cafeteria. Go to your local job center, I know that around here, that if you were a homemaker and if you are a certain age, they will pay for you to become a CNA and it only takes a few months. Good luck and god bless!
