They say that the Greatest Generation was followed by the Worst Generation.

A bunch of whining, entitled, rioting, bomb-throwing, protesting, self-righteous, self-important, selfish, leftist, pieces of crap.

No-fault divorce, drugs, premarital sex, rampant STDs, infidelity, selfishness, communist-sympathizing. That is their legacy.

I saw them all in full flower in DC, trying to relive the good old days. And still smelling like they took their last shower at Woodstock when it rained.

And I see that they are poiting fingers at the brattiness of the Gen X kids. Well, look who raised them! Overly coddling,m afraid to discipline them. Spoiling them with an endless shower of gifts, trying to be friends rather than parents. This is what came of it. The sense of entitlement among the current generation was inherited.

Agreed. The Babyboomers raped this country and gave nothing back.

They didn’t save and now they want the taxpayers to pay their way…..Naturally most are democrats.

    Yes!!!! 30 grand and counting.

I like how they were liberal in youth but once they started to make money they are now conservatives!!!

The greatest generation bought this country to dominance the boomer sucked at their tit and left it for us to clean it up.

Generation me could care less as long as they can afford guitar hero 15…

yup, it’s a mess alright. but most boomers haven’t figured out yet that all of the perks they wanted probably won’t come into being because nobody wants to pay for them.

Many of the hippies and, yippies of the 60s and 70s were the yuppies of the 80s and the Republican base today. Now you know where the blame should rest.

So you are blaming your parents for this mess. I would guess your parents are as unhappy with what has happened in the last 7 years as you are. These events have had nothing whatsoever to do with baby boomer ideals. I think you will have to get more specific than to blame an entire generation.

I see a lot of references to things like Social Security. That was started before baby boomers were born. We had nothing to do with it other than paying into it all our lives. Now we’re considered pigs in a poke for getting to the age where we’ll finally be able to collect.

EDIT: I can’t believe some of you think a whole generation was like the ones who went to Woodstock. Not by a long shot.

AMEN!!!! Exactly what I’ve been saying for the last ten years. The boomers jacked up their standard of living on OUR backs with their retiring at fifty, double dipping, bankrupting Social Security, on and on and on!

Oh boohoo let,s see how well you freak,s do. And by the way it was your generation that gave us gang banger,s and all the crime and expense that goes with it. and you who drive more car,s then anyone else with all the pollution and high insurance rate,s. There is more of you then ever there was of us . so stop crying and make the changes you need to get what you need and or want. No wander thing,s are so screwed up. All you do is complain and cry. — So how do you like being put down???

  9. justanotherjoe

No. I don’t feel overwhelmed. Just a ltl angry when all that could have been done has been thrown to the wayside due to even your complacency. I can see how you feel it now since you ran smack into that invariable brick wall. Ignorance because it’s convenient now doesn’t work too well does it? I would imagine that’s where your overwhelming feeling is coming from.

To Rev: Well…….we’ll do just fine, that is if enough have finally seen the light per se and hopefully choose to break the status quo. It’s time.

I would say the wrost legacy of the baby boomers all have to do with Urban Sprawl and automobile dependence.

Sprawl has no future. Suburbia has no future. It depletes resources at the local level and makes public transit not profitable or even break even. It creates fiscal squeeze in cities, and ruins environments. All for what? An automobile dependency that rips through oil resources faster than any other nation on earth.

The baby boomers have created an oil dependency that will eventually test the very fabric of American society. It has been, without question, the most materialistic, capitalistic generation with inequality and disparity in the United States growing at an alarming rate. 30 years ago, if I would say the Middle Class may face disappearance people would think I’m crazy… thanks to baby boom generational greed that prophecy may actually come true.

Some may say "well dude, we were the hippie generation fighting ‘the man’". Facts are, actions speak volumes while words say nothing. The greed of this generation, in my opinion (as well as many authors including James Kunstler) have termed the gross misallocation of resources from thsi generation to hopeless suburbia nad auto dependency as "The greatest misallocation of resources in the history of the planet". I happen to agree with this statement.

Us gen x’ers and millennials need to stop complaining and actually do something about it. But I think we need to focus less on class warfare in the way the hippies and establishment fought about but focused more in restoring this gov’t as a Constitutional Representative Republic and claim responsability for both our ignorance and apathy of the past and responsability for things that are happening now in the present. Its our time restore America to its true glory and stop blaming past generations, other nations, the government for things that we can fix NOW.

Not overwhelmed. Amazed they could be so stupidly selfish, and angry that no one stopped them from tearing us down. They are like children. Their children eclipse them in maturity, hard won – by surviving the eventual divorces.
