For the past 40 years did the baby boomers vote for bankrupcy in their retirement?

My Boomer Tips
Paying into a Social Security system and voting in big spending politicians that guaranteed financial ruin for the future. Voters have no one to blame but themselves when they are eating dog food in their retirement shanty.

Sad but true.
Everyone knew Social Security was a ponzi deal where the ones who get out early make the most and the rest get shafted.
And every time anyone tried to fix Social Security they were met with fierce opposition.
These progressives started their socialist programs nearly 100 years ago and it’s been a slow bleed that’s finally reached critical mass.
We may be able to fix things, but it sure will be hard. Especially if we continue to let the government grow. This health bill is a good example of enormous expansion of government and yet 30% are actually in favor of it.
Taking over the education system was key to making this work. Taking over the media helped keep the people ignorant to what politicians were doing. Now they’ve taken over the banks, industry etc.
We’re becoming Venezuela.
I AM A BABY BOOMER AND I RESENT THAT BUT YOU ARE PROBABLY RIGHT
Social Security was never meant to be your sole income to live on in retirement but simply a supplement insurance. If you saved something on your own for the 40 years and invested it you should have no problem if we can get the spenders in Congress thrown out now.
Actually, it wasn’t the big spending. Spending isn’t that much bigger as a percentage of the economy than it was in 1970. The problem is that they thought they could have a medium sized government while maintaining a tax level that would only support a small government. Since they never saved up to have the money in 2030 to pay Social Security, things are going to get tough for Generation X and Generation Y when we are asked to pay higher taxes to cover the money owed to Social Security.
"question’ is correct. Beans and cornbread are a lot cheaper than dog food.
Social Secuirty is fine.
It’s fully funded and thank goodness the baby boomers didn’t fall for the "Privatize Social Security" crap that Regan and Gingrich were selling in the 80′s.
Where would they be now ?
Where’s all that "free market" BS now ?
The crying shame is the same crowd is selling the "Government bad, Buisness good" crap again and the public has collective Alzheimers about who they are and what they tried to do,not so long ago.
Stop paying benifits to people who never paid in.
Like the children of retirees until they graduate college, then see how much longer till it goes bankrupt.
