Do you feel like today's hippies have more balls than Baby Boomers or Gen X?

Well, I don't mean hippies per day. I have a degree and an office job, what I'm saying is that today's young people. 15-29 have more integrity when it comes to following up on their values. Like lots of people know that Live Earth was gay and polluting. Some people who I know don't eat meat because it's a polluting industry.
Do you feel like when Baby Boomers and Gen X people retire from government in 30-40 years today's young people will stick to their guns and actually make policy changes related to environment? For example making internal combustion engines in private vehicles illegal. Or taxing meat industry heavily, and so on.
iraqisax, well, capitalist economy things the other way. Business have long recognized that there are different age market segments with different values and they require different approach; without necessarily having members of groups themselves realize where they belong . So saying that Gen X, or Gen Y don't exist or they're not real people it's just plain demagogy and ignorance.

Like engineers who build rail roads and steel factories, or scientists who who come up with new alloys and drilling methods don't work in offices. Christ, this is one of the first times I saw someone's work ethics judged based on their diet. I guess this is how Bush got voted into the office - solid meat based diet 
I know what you mean… but I tend to disagree. I think that more people in our generation tend to feel like what they do doesn’t matter and just enjoy their lives without paying attention.
I think it’s going to take something *major* to get our generation to do anything about… well… anything.
Pardon? Um… No. Hippies are lovely and they have no balls. They are just lazy people that hang out and grow their hair long. Balls aren’t applicable to their way of life.

Some of us don’t like fascist hippies and your laws/guns which go hand in hand. Down with hippie fascism, we will not be intimidated by your violence. You hippies don’t own us, we are not your slaves. Why don’t you give peace a chance?

I consider anyone a hippy who joins up with an eccentric group of unorthodox conformists. This includes the original hippies from the late Sixties, the punks who drive around in loud cars with loud speakers, the tree huggers, and anyone who identifies himself or herself as a member of some generation.
Real people are differentiated from hippies by their ability to resist joining some silly movement, gang "family".
Hard working people eat meat, Office people with degree eat lettuce
Maybe compared to gen x – when I was in university, in Australia we never protested anything except rising student fees. Back then the campuses were full of people who talked the talk with all kinds of symbols on their tee shirts & pictures of Che Guevara everywhere, joinging organisations with names like Resistance and Direct Action, but nobody couldn’t be bothered mobilising to do anything.
Back in the 1960′s and 1970′s it was different students were militant back then and took the streets to march in anger, joint in one hand bullhorn in the other, accepting arrest and incarceration as part of the process of solving things.
So, when the 1960′s youth generation got older why didn’t they legalise drugs, downsize the military and dismantle capitalism? Because they grew up – that’s what happens when people get older. Your generation will grow up one day too.
