My Boomer Tips

You know, "spoil the child".

Way too many of today's children of Baby Boomers are spoiled, selfish and feel "entitled", lazy and unmotivated, mannerless, unruly, rebellious, and their morals are loose.

What went wrong? It seems I heard somewhere that even Dr. Spock admitted he goofed.

    Good! Someone finally admits it "MIGHT" have failed. Some people can’t admit they were wrong even when the evidence is in front of their face like the mud on my dog’s nose.

    They stop spanking the kids. I’m glad my dad beat me , I needed it. I’m a better person b/c of it. Jail is probably worse than a spanking.

    I feel that some of Dr. Spock’s advice was sound. It was hard to apply it consistently with working 8-10 hours a day, though. We’ve tried to give our children everything so as to assuage our guilt about not being with them more. That’s where the sense of entitlement comes from. We weren’t there to make them make up their beds, carry out the trash, etc. They have been raised by day care centers and baby sitters who could have given a d**n. They had tired moms and pops who wanted nothing more than to eat and watch TV when they got home. I blame it on that, not any one author of baby books.

    I don’t know much about the good doctor but Mr. Spock declared that human emotion was "HIGHLY ILLOGICAL."
